The Drivers of Europe’s Technology Scene

Second and third-generation European entrepreneurs are returning from time spent at global companies overseas and focusing their attention on domestic growth stories that are helping fuel the substantial progress of Europe's technology sector. Clif Marriott of the Technology, Media and Telecom group in Goldman Sachs’ Investment Banking Division explains that the sector’s progress is evidenced by the increasing number of unicorns – private companies valued at over one billion dollars – in the European tech scene and the high number of successful IPOs of European companies.

What drives the positivity around European tech for the go-forward period is really the second and third-generation entrepreneurs who are… coming back to Europe to invest their time and some of their resources into developing new companies in Europe.
