Goldman Sachs and Team Rubicon Assist in Philippines Relief Effort

In the wake of the devastation wrought in the Philippines by Typhoon Haiyan, Goldman Sachs and its senior employees have recommended grants of more than $600,000 to support relief and recovery efforts.

As part of our relief strategy, Goldman Sachs has committed $250,000 to support Team Rubicon, complementing our people’s individual efforts to support aid organizations in the region. Goldman Sachs’ contribution has helped Team Rubicon deploy 65 volunteers on the ground and establish operations in Tacloban and Tanauan, Tolosa and Carigara where they are providing emergency medical assistance, water purification services, and distributing food and relief supplies. Learn more about Team Rubicon’s Typhoon response efforts online: NBC Southern California.

In addition to the firm’s support of Team Rubicon, senior employees have recommended over $390,000 in grants through Goldman Sachs Gives to support the Red Cross, Catholic Relief Services, Oxfam, International Medical Corps, Save the Children, All Hands Volunteers, Doctors Without Borders and UNICEF, among others. The firm and our people will continue to monitor the situation on the ground and relief efforts as they evolve, offering support to organizations providing food, water, shelter and medical services to those in need.
