Now I know, with the 10,000 Women training and continued support, the sky is no longer the limit!
Sandma Enterprises is a hardware business that was started ten years ago right outside of Nairobi. It was born as a response to the great expansion of businesses from the central business district. Because of this expansion there was a need for building materials.
The challenges I have encountered include increased competition, inadequate capital to grow, and a lack of skilled workers. I also lacked the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively manage and grow my business.
The business plan that I prepared during the 10,000 Women training has helped me to stay on course as I plan ahead on the various steps to grow my business to the next level.
Since graduating from the 10,000 Women program, I have reorganized my staff and hired two new employees. I gained the courage to obtain a bank loan to start construction of a permanent business complex. I have enrolled all my employees in a health insurance plan, reviewed salaries, and introduced a lunch feeding program among many other incentives. I have also purchased a laptop and an internet modem for the business to improve communication with suppliers and clients.
My future plan is to move the business to the more spacious and permanent location which will allow us greater flexibility in product display, bigger storage space and an enhanced use of technology in coordinating all business operations and newly opened units.
