I work in the Finance division of Goldman Sachs, specifically in the Corporate Treasury department. Corporate Treasury is a unique group in the sense that we have just one client – Goldman Sachs. In servicing this client, we work closely with the Treasurer to manage the firm's funding, liquidity and capital as well as relationships with creditors, rating agencies and regulators. This broad mandate enables each of us to gain great insights on how a sophisticated company such as Goldman Sachs operates.
My group is frequently involved in projects that require innovative and, at the same time, feasible solutions for different issues around the firm. We often find that policies we set have a far-reaching impact beyond the project at hand. Sometimes these decisions require flexibility and understanding of the nuances in different markets, especially when their scope is global. My group’s role and, subsequently, my role in helping senior management balance potentially conflicting drivers across the firm is fascinating and exciting for me every day.
