I am a business analyst with Goldman Sachs' Global Investment Research department, on the European software team. My key responsibilities include staying on top of the news flow impacting our coverage universe and software sector in general, maintaining team infrastructure, working with the team to frame new investment ideas and interacting with clients.
Tracking the ever-changing landscape of the technology sector and drawing investment conclusions from it is the most interesting aspect of my job. We regularly interact with industry experts to keep ourselves abreast of the latest changes in the software sector and apply this knowledge to our investment thesis on stocks which gives a more tangible feel to what I do on a daily basis.
I believe that the right attitude is the key to newer and better opportunities at Goldman Sachs and the top management here has always ensured that this element remains intact. I have been very fortunate to accompany my lead analyst to many meetings with company managements and clients and this gives me a good opportunity to fine tune my industry knowledge. In my second year at the firm, I attended a Goldman Sachs-hosted software conference in New York which helped me interact with many companies top managements, clients and industry experts.
Teamwork is very fundamental to idea generation in our team. We debate about new trends in the sector and their implications for our sector and for the companies we cover on a regular basis. This helps us synchronise our thoughts to finalise investment thesis on our stocks. Personally, this helps me to develop my industry knowhow.
