My typical day starts at 9 AM. I respond to emails and check in with my teammates. I generally spend the rest of my day back and forth between my desk and meetings. Efficiency is key when you have to juggle multiple tasks, so I do my best to complete my work in between meetings and conference calls. My goal each day is to make it home for dinner. While that doesn’t always happen, it gives me an incentive to focus and really manage my time.

The most challenging—and interesting—part of my job is dealing with the uncertainty of the markets. Our business is constantly changing and this requires flexibility, creativity and innovation to solve problems and create opportunities.

Right now, I am working on restructuring two of our portfolio investments. While I am primarily responsible for modelling out various structuring alternatives, I also get to participate in high-level strategy discussions with senior people at the firm. It is really interesting to learn about the negotiation process.
