I work in the Client Operations division of Goldman Sachs in Bangalore, managing prime brokerage operations. We work with the Prime Brokerage business by ensuring all the trades are agreed to with the executing brokers prior to settlement date. We also handle payment and perform various daily reconciliation functions relating to security and cash positions.

Managing the process involves a lot of communication, working closely with regional managers and other departments to constantly redefine our processes and controls to ensure that the risk is always mitigated.

Our work is team-based. We work not as a regional team but as one global team, handing off to each other and working in total coordination, thereby providing a seamless service to our clients. It is only through this collaborative effort that we can stay ahead of the volumes and targets set. Reaching consensus through teamwork, passion for client service, commitment to protect the firm's capital and reputation are principles deeply embedded in every person's actions.

I find it interesting to work this way: As a team, we manage a great deal of risk for our hedge fund clients, thereby challenging us every day to be the best in the business.
