Mentoring is a huge part of the culture at Goldman Sachs, not just internally, but externally. In high school I was involved in a mentorship program in which someone from Goldman Sachs was assigned to be my mentor. I learned about the firm through this relationship and had my first internship at Goldman Sachs between my sophomore and junior year of high school! I returned for a few more internships and maintained many of the relationships that I had forged during that initial summer. Ultimately, I was hired to work on that same desk that I worked on during my first internship with Goldman Sachs.

My first few days at the firm as a full time hire were quite different than most. Given the amount of time I had already spent here, there were a lot of familiar faces. Despite that, the number of businesses that we learned about during the training program and the complexity of each one was quite striking to me.
