I am currently working on executing the first ever Western-style LBO in Russia, of a Russian juice producer. Additionally, I am working on devising long-term financing strategy for a large Russian retailer. Apart from that, I am involved with several Russian corporate debt transactions, as well as a couple of potential private equity deals in Russia.

Most of my work is team-based – for any project to be moved forward there are people involved across different divisions at Goldman Sachs. Depending on the industry in which our client is based, we will work with an M&A team from that industry, and for our Russian deals, we always have the support of the local Moscow-based bankers. Plus, we work quite closely with our Fixed Derivatives team on hedging.

The most challenging aspect of my job is balancing my role as an associate – that is, supporting my team and learning – while providing guidance for the analysts. The most rewarding part of my job is helping my clients. I also feel rewarded by helping the analysts who work with me to learn new skills and develop professionally.
