Among other things, I am currently working on an add-on acquisition for one of our investments. The most interesting aspect is that I can interact directly with the CEO and CFO of the company to get their operating insights on the opportunity. It is exciting that with just three years of experience at Goldman Sachs, I’ve become a valuable team member for such senior executives.

The biggest challenge of the job is the amount of responsibility, especially if one controls the complex acquisition models that are used to come up with binding offer prices for a company. There is simply no room for mistakes, and one needs to be very alert despite many things happening at the same time.

Closing a large transaction and the final price negotiation leading thereto is one of the most rewarding parts of the job. However, it is equally rewarding to know that not having made an investment was a good decision, especially if one can observe bad performance afterwards.
