Myself

When I was still in the accounting world, I did not consider pursuing a career as an internal auditor; my focus was to obtain my CPA and to work in a controller’s function. If the opportunity to work in internal audit was received from a firm other than Goldman Sachs, I may not have pursued the opportunity. I was attracted to what the firm had to offer someone with my background and experience level.

One great aspect of a career at Goldman Sachs is the firm’s strong internal mobility culture. There are many opportunities available to people who want to explore new career opportunities here. For example, in Internal Audit, auditors have the ability to take on short or longer term international assignments, cover other business outside their primary function or transition into other divisions.

My advice to others considering a career in Internal Audit would be to remember that the financial services marketplace and the firm are continuously changing and innovating. Do not limit yourself to narrowly defined roles or business aspirations. When looking at an opportunity, make sure to think globally and big picture. Ask yourself some questions: Are you comfortable working in teams that stretch globally? Can you accept constructive criticism? Are you open to sharing ideas, to learning and teaching? If your answer is yes, then you should consider an audit career with Goldman Sachs.
