In the mid-1980s, Goldman Sachs recognized that German clients needed dedicated service. At the time, the firm served regional clients from outside the country, but following a strategic decision to commit substantial resources to the German and Austrian markets, Goldman Sachs opened its Frankfurt office in October 1990.
