New Analysts begin their careers at Goldman Sachs by participating in an accelerated introduction to the global securities and derivatives markets.
Training
You will learn about the products and techniques you will need for analyzing the markets' performance. Most important, you will gain an overview of the firm and our approach to business. The training is demanding and will test your intellectual capabilities and stamina. There is also a strong social element to the program, enabling analysts to establish a valuable network of contacts throughout the division globally.
The division provides a supportive and collaborative environment in which to develop your career. Following the initial training program, you will be enrolled in the New Hire Foundations program, which is designed to develop product, technical and professional skills in line with business and your own development needs. Ongoing continuing education will be available throughout your career.
Initial Years
After this training period, you will begin work as an analyst on your assigned desk. You will quickly become an integral member of the team with your own responsibilities. As your experience and confidence grow, you will take charge of client relationships or some trading activities, depending upon your role.
Career Growth
Typically, the Analyst program lasts for two to three years, with many Analysts remaining with the firm and then being promoted to Associates. Regardless of your particular career path at Goldman Sachs, you become a vital part of a Global team with a pre-eminent reputation for excellence in the financial markets and in the field of investment banking.
