After graduating from college or university, new analysts are hired directly into equity, credit, economics, commodities or strategy research teams, providing them with the opportunity to specialize in that area of research.
Training
New analysts attend a training program that introduces them to Goldman Sachs and provides insight into the role of the Global Investment Research team and how its members interact with other groups within the firm.
Post Training
Once they have completed their training, new analysts join industry teams, where they work closely with and receive on-the-job training from senior analysts, associates and other team members. Daily work activities depend on the area and may include analyzing companies, running models, synthesizing data and interacting with the sales force, clients and companies. Analysts have a high level of responsibility and visibility at a junior level in both idea generation and marketing.
CFA Certification
First year analysts will have the opportunity to study for the Level 1 Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam, a valuable, internationally recognized exam within the financial industry.
