Global Investment Research

Global Investment Research (GIR) provides investment recommendations by generating fundamental research and analysis of companies, industries, markets and economies.

GIR analysts help our clients achieve superior returns through our creative, differentiated investment insights and ideas. Our clients include mutual funds, hedge funds and pension funds, among others.

GIR looks for individuals who are intellectually curious, creative and analytical. Research analysts are passionate about the markets and interested in the research process. You must also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Our Global Investment Research Summer Program is 10 weeks long, and provides students with the opportunity to gain insight into the division and the role of a research analyst. We place interns directly into equity, credit, economics, commodities and strategy research teams, where they can focus on both project work and the day-to-day tasks of a research team. Summer interns work closely with a senior analyst, associate, and/or financial analyst, gaining exposure to all aspects of the responsibilities of a research analyst.

A typical day could include working on financial models or valuation projects, researching and writing portions of thematic pieces, conducting market research and attending conferences. A summer internship at Goldman Sachs is a demanding experience, but teams make sure that interns have the support they need and take time to provide guidance and education.

We also have off-cycle internships available in our London office and in a select number of Asian offices during the year.
