Fortune Magazine Names Goldman Sachs One of the ‘World’s Most Admired Companies’
Goldman Sachs ranked No. 23 overall and No. 1 in the megabanks category.
For the ninth consecutive year, Fortune magazine included Goldman Sachs on its “World’s Most Admired Companies” list. The firm was ranked No. 23. The annual survey, conducted in partnership with Korn Ferry Hay Group, reflects the perceptions of companies across industries around the world.
The firm was also recognized for its ability to attract, develop and retain talent, ranking third in this category across industries.
Within the “megabanks” category Goldman Sachs also ranked No. 1 overall, and among the top three financial services companies for innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, quality of management, long-term investment, quality of products/services and global competitiveness.
Fortune and Korn Ferry Hay Group started with approximately 1,500 companies and then selected the 15 largest for each international industry and the 10 largest for each US industry, surveying a total of 652 companies from 30 countries. Korn Ferry Hay Group asked executives, directors and analysts to rate companies in their own industry on nine criteria, from investment value to social responsibility to create 55 industry lists. A company’s score must rank in the top half of its industry survey to be listed.
To arrive at the top 50 Most Admired Companies overall, Korn Ferry Hay Group asked 4,000 executives, directors and securities analysts to select the 10 companies they admired most. Respondents chose from a list made up of the companies that ranked in the top 25 percent in last year’s surveys, plus those that finished in the top 20 percent of their industry.
