Goldman Sachs Hosts Inaugural Women’s Trader Academy in London

08 MAY 2018

Goldman Sachs hosted its first-ever Trader Academy program for 16 women students graduating in 2019 to provide mentorship, training and information about careers in trading at the firm.

The Trader Academy is a three-day training at our London office where participants learn about the role of a trader through interactive business spotlight sessions, work shadowing and networking. The aim of the program is to prepare women for future roles in trading.

“I learned a lot about the technical aspects of trading but most importantly, the program gave me an understanding of the firm’s culture,” said Saranchana, a participant in the academy.

Each participant had two Goldman Sachs traders as mentors who helped by introducing them to trading and sharing their career advice.

“The Trader Academy offers students a great opportunity to get an early insight into trading so when they walk on the floor they have a clearer idea of what being a trader means,” said Giulia, a vice president in Equities Trading and mentor in the Trader Academy.

“Overall, the Trader Academy helped me to better understand what is involved in trading, the wide variety of people that I would be able to work with in Securities, and the skills that I could develop here,” said Vivien, another participant.
