One of Fortune’s “100 Best Companies”
Fortune has included Goldman Sachs as one of its "100 Best Companies to Work For" every year since the rankings first came out in 1998—a track record matched by only twelve other organizations. For 2010, we ranked sixth among companies that have more than 10,000 employees, and twenty-third overall.
“This is an incredible achievement given the challenging environment we have faced over the past year,” said Edith Cooper, global head of Human Capital Management. “It is the perseverance and dedication of our people that make Goldman Sachs a great place to work.”
Among other achievements, the award recognizes the work of our 10,000 Small Businesses and 10,000 Women programs, which encourage collaboration between Goldman Sachs professionals, entrepreneurs and local universities. It also recognizes our Americas Diversity Week, where more than 70 events were organized.
To create the “100 Best Companies to Work For” ranking, Fortune partners with the Great Place to Work Institute, which each year conducts a comprehensive employee survey of corporate America. Three hundred and eleven businesses participated in this year’s survey. Each company’s score was based on the opinions of employees (two thirds weighting) on topics related to management’s credibility, job satisfaction, and camaraderie, and the Institute’s evaluation of a company’s programs, policies, practices, and culture (one third weighting).
