Career Advice from Gary Cohn, President and COO of Goldman Sachs
In the latest episode of the Exchanges at Goldman Sachs podcast, Gary Cohn, president and COO of Goldman Sachs discusses key issues impacting the global economic landscape and also shares what the firm looks for when hiring and what he sees as the one key characteristic of successful people.
“The first thing I would say we’re looking for is someone with a passion. Someone with a passion to be on Wall Street… Someone who wants to make a difference. Someone who wants to be in an organization that's going to be involved with the shaping of global economies,” Gary says.
Gary talks about Goldman Sachs’s role in helping clients and how the firm wants people who can make a difference.
“[Whenever] you're financing companies, or merging companies together, or helping new entrepreneurs create product, that's where we play our strongest role. So when we’re hiring, we want people that want to throw themselves into the middle of that opportunity and really make a difference in the world.”
The most essential piece of advice is to work hard, Gary says.
