Supporting Apprenticeships in London

In October 2012, a group of young adults embarked on a journey – joining Goldman Sachs for an apprenticeship in our London offices. A year later, they have gained experience, new skills and confidence, and are ready for the exciting opportunities ahead.

Ten apprentices joined Goldman Sachs on October 31, 2012. In addition to the one-year apprenticeship, our apprentices received a class-based training program designed to help them develop the professional skills required in the workplace. They worked across the Technology, Operations, Human Capital Management, Corporate Services and Real Estate, Investment Banking and the Securities divisions.

In the year since the Evening Standard launched its campaign, the working lives of over 1100 young adults have been transformed through newly-created apprenticeship opportunities. These have been provided by over 400 London enterprises - ranging from PricewaterhouseCoopers and Tottenham Hotspur football club, to the Royal Opera House and Westminster’s House of Commons. Goldman Sachs is proud to have played its part in the initiative.

In collaboration with Hackney Community College, Goldman Sachs welcomed its third class of apprentices on November 12, 2014. Seven apprentices joined the Human Capital Management, Investment Management, Operations, Services and the Technology Divisions to begin a one year apprenticeship.

As a result of the firm’s commitment to this programme, 10 of our apprentices have gone on to secure positions at Goldman Sachs, while a number of others have secured roles at other leading firms.
