Technology Division - New York/Jersey City - Object Oriented/Database Analyst Developer (Position #0013)

Across our business we are looking for individuals that want to use technology to solve business problems. The proprietary object-oriented database technology is Goldman Sachs’ strategic front office derivatives platform and is deployed across the Securities, Investment Research and Investment Management businesses. Widely viewed in the industry as a competitive advantage to Goldman Sachs, this platform is an innovative, object oriented principles-based database with a full suite of tools to build sophisticated, iterative and tailored business solutions allowing for both rapid response to business needs and expansive growth into profitable businesses. This Goldman Sachs technology platform has evolved into a complete rich toolset that is heavily leveraged by sales and trading businesses to price derivatives and underlying assets, to manage risks and to accomplish all the associated tasks required for trading and sales. The firm and the department are very focused on using technology to increase profitability, so it is also critical that you are able to adapt to whichever technologies best achieve that goal.

Key skill sets include: 

  • Bachelor or masters degree in computer science 
  • At least 1 year of recent professional experience in one or more procedural/object oriented languages (C/C++, C#, Java, Smalltalk) 
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Recent experience programming in a Unix environment required 
  • Experience developing multi-threaded application/server required 
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills are a must given that most roles will involve liaising with traders, salespeople and operations 
  • Experience with SQL desirable
